Most of the models and textures we ship are made in Blockbench, the free 3D editor built around Minecraft's block-and-cube style. Over time we kept repeating the same chores: rebuilding vanilla blocks by hand, typing logos out cube by cube, and taking the same screenshots of every model for every listing. So we wrote plugins for them.

All three are published under the Speaway name in Aegyip/blockbench-plugins, and each is tagged for both Minecraft: Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.

Item Generator

Version 2.1.0 · Blockbench 4.10.0 or newer · desktop app

Item Generator puts every vanilla block and item one click away, with textures loaded live instead of copied into the plugin.

  • Always the current game version. On start it reads Mojang's official version manifest and loads the texture catalogue for the latest release, served from mcasset.cloud. The chosen version is remembered between sessions.
  • Blocks and items, searchable. A panel with separate Blocks and Items tabs and a search field, showing each entry with its real texture.
  • Real vanilla models, not flat copies. Clicking an entry resolves the game's own model JSON, following its parent chain, and adds it to your project with the correct textures on every face.

It is the fastest way to start from something that looks exactly like the game and change it from there.

Text Generator

Version 1.0.0 · Blockbench 4.8.0 or newer · desktop and web

Text Generator turns any text into Minecraft-style 3D cube geometry, for logos, signs, map titles and resource packs.

  • A default Minecraft-style font, a set of curated block fonts that load automatically, and uploads of your own .ttf or .otf files.
  • Adjustable size, depth (down to zero for paper-thin text), spacing and alignment.
  • A coloured outline border, plus bold, italic, underline and strikethrough.
  • Saveable presets, so a server's logo style can be reused across projects.
  • Full Unicode and emoji support.

Open it from Tools → Text Generator, type your text and press Generate. To change it later, double-click the Text group in the outliner, edit and regenerate.

Recordshots

Version 1.3.1 · Blockbench 4.10.0 or newer · desktop app

Recordshots combines screenshots and recordings in one plugin, built for the listing images and previews every model needs.

  • Screenshot: batch stills of the model from a set of camera angles in one go.
  • Record: in Animate mode, export an animation at the frame rate you pick, as an APNG, GIF or PNG sequence with a transparent background, or as an MP4 video on a solid colour of your choice.
  • Texture variants: an optional mode captures each entry in the Textures panel as its own variant, which is ideal for block packs with several colourways.
  • Organised output: files go to Pictures/Blockbench/Screenshots by default, in a subfolder named after the model, or to a folder you choose.

MP4 export uses FFmpeg installed on your computer; the other formats work without it.

Installing them

On 27 July 2026 we opened a pull request to add all three plugins to the official Blockbench plugin repository. All three pass the repository's own validation script, and the request is waiting for review by the maintainers.

Once it is merged, the plugins will appear in Blockbench under File → Plugins → Available. Until then, the plugin files are in our repository and can be loaded from a file in the same Plugins window.

Why we share them

These tools save our model team time on every project. Blockbench itself is free and community-driven, and the plugin list is a big part of why it is so useful, so it made sense to give back to it. If you find a bug or have an idea for one of the plugins, tell us on the Speaway Discord.
